My name (besides Epic Fred) is James O’Brien. I am a physics/mathematics teacher from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. I’ve been playing D&D (and other role playing games) off and on since the 90s and regularly for about the last decade. I went from playing every few years, to every few months, to every few weeks, to my current schedule of 2-4 different games each week (you can read about a couple of them here)! I’ve been a long time player, who dabbled in running the odd game here and there, but I only truly took up the mantle of Dungeon Master around 2014. Nowadays I far more frequently act as Dungeon Master than anything else and I find it infinitely rewarding.
I like to think I am fairly creative, I have a weird imagination that tends to run in a dozen different directions at the same time. This has proven very useful in creating unique experiences for my players. I have on many occasions considered writing campaign documents or supplements (such as NPCs or magic items) to share online but until now I’ve never made an honest attempt to make that happen. This is the starting point of that attempt.
My goal is to use this as a space to provide interesting information about role playing, insights from both player and DM perspectives, and eventually, some professional grade content to add to your games. My current focus is Dungeons and Dragons (5th edition), but most of my musings will be applicable to other editions/games.
